INITIATIVES
IIITs are Institutes of National Importance (INIs) serving a pivotal role in developing highly skilled human resources. IIITs are also playing the role of catalysts for various initiatives taken by the Government of India (GoI). Some of the major initiatives are listed below
- Outreach: IIITs organize various training and management development programs targeted at grooming professionals, managers, and technologists. These training programs are mostly in areas of information technology, management, and manufacturing.
- Digital India: The vision of this initiative of the GoI is to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. IIITs are playing a major role in this by training and developing skilled IT professionals. IIITs are also putting significant efforts in developing new apps and software to boost this initiative.
- Startup India: The aim of this initiative of the GoI is to empower Startups to grow through innovation and design. IIITs are devoted towards achieving this goal through their Incubation Centers for promoting technology and innovation.
- Make in India: The vision of this initiative of the GoI is to give momentum to manufacturing in India and make India a global manufacturing hub. IIITs are putting significant efforts through research and projects in design and manufacturing domain.
- Social Initiatives: IIITs are putting conscious efforts to increase student awareness on various social issues and initiatives for the betterment of the society. IIITs continuously conduct various training and educational programs for underprivileged children.
- Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: The aim of this initiative of the GoI is to create a Clean India. IIITs are taking various initiatives and awareness programs in this regard to promote society-wide sanitation and hygiene.
